Our Story

Built for the Region

MEASA was founded on a straightforward observation: the Middle East is not well served by generalist international firms that parachute in counsel with no regional roots.

Our clients are businesses, institutions, and investors that need legal and strategic advice from people who actually know the region — its governments, its regulators, its political dynamics, and its legal systems. That is what MEASA was built to provide.

The firm operates from offices in West Vancouver and Cairo, with active practices across Egypt, the Gulf Cooperation Council states, and sub-Saharan Africa. Our attorneys and advisors have spent careers in the region — not as visiting counsel, but as practitioners who have built careers here.

Ahmed Elashry

Ahmed is a dual-qualified lawyer licensed to practise in both Canada (common law) and Egypt (civil law). That dual qualification gives him a rare vantage point: he understands how Western investors think, how Middle Eastern regulators operate, and how to bridge the two. He founded MEASA to bring that perspective to bear on the transactions and regulatory matters where it matters most.

Maher Mohamed

Senior CounselCalled to the Bar in Egypt

Maher was called to the Egyptian Bar in 1984 and leads the firm's litigation practice. With more than 40 years of courtroom experience, he has represented numerous international businesses and individuals in corporate, commercial, labour, civil, and regulatory disputes. He has appeared before courts at all levels across Egypt, bringing clients deep procedural knowledge, practical judgment, and a clear understanding of how disputes are handled and resolved before Egyptian courts.

Olfat Hamed

Olfat specialises in regulatory compliance and government relations, with particular depth in the Egyptian and Gulf markets. She has guided clients through licensing, concession negotiations, and regulatory submissions at the highest levels.

Mayada Maher

Mayada advises on commercial contracts, dispute resolution, and market entry. She works closely with international companies establishing their first footprint in the region.
